Agendus Comes to BlackBerry

iambic, earlier today, has introduced Agendus for BlackBerry smartphones. Of their new BlackBerry product, iambic writes:

"Enthusiastically embraced by Palm OS and Windows Mobile users, Agendus has been especially tailored to work seamlessly on BlackBerry devices such as the BlackBerry Bold, KickStart, Perl and Curve. Our solution ties together the most frequently used applications on your phone (Calendar, Contacts, and Tasks) so you get more things done using fewer (and, in most cases, half) the button presses. Efficiency made easy!"

Agendus for BlackBerry 1.0 comes in two pricing models: $19.95 for the BlackBerry only application and $39.95 for the BlackBerry/Windows desktop bundle.

For more details on the new edition of Agendus, including the link for the demo download, visit the iambic website.

Apples Releases Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.5. Update

When I returned home this evening I found that Apple has rolled out the next maintenance release to Mac OS X Leopard, 10.5.5. The update is available now via the Apple Software Update control panel, which can be found in the Mac OS X System Preferences area. (System Preferences can be quickly accessed from the grey gears icon in the Dock menu along the bottom of the Finder desktop.

According to the Apple knowledge base, the Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.5 update "is recommended for Mac OS X Leopard versions 10.5, 10.5.1, 10.5.2, 10.5.3 and 10.5.4. It includes general operating system improvements that enhance the stability, compatibility, and security of your Mac."

For more details about what the update fixes, please refer to the Apple website.

Normally I don't post notes about desktop operating system updates on Foleo Fanatics. This update, however, I though was worth mentioning here as it does relate to my fellow Palm OS users. In Apple's update documentation in the General section, the following line caught my attention:

"Fixes an issue in which contacts might not sync properly with PalmOS-based devices."

At this time, I am unaware of what issue this update addresses specifically. If you read the Macintosh forum over on the Palm Help Forums, Brighthand, or other sites, the Mac boards are full of Mac and Palm customers who can't get their Palm OS devices to sync with their Macintosh.

Regardless, I'm glad to see that Palm and Apple are still working together to ensure that there is some interoperability between their devices.

Rumor: Rose and Green Centros Coming To Sprint

The SprintUsers Sprint customer's community website is reporting that Palm and Sprint will be rolling out two new colored Centro smartphones on October 19, 2008.

The leaked Sprint Quick Reference Brief states that a rose and green colored Centro will go on sale in October. No device specs or pricing are listed in the brief, but at this point, we have to assume that the new Centro units will be exactly like the other CDMA Sprint units with new shells.

Palm has announced the highly rumored Treo Pro Windows Mobile 6.1 super sexy smartphone earlier today.

In their press release, Palm writes:
"Palm, today introduced Treo(TM) Pro, an effortlessly usable smartphone for businesses that want to simplify their IT infrastructures and lower costs, and for users who want to stay on top of their professional and personal lives. With its streamlined design and Palm(R) shortcuts layered on Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional, Treo Pro is a unique combination of sleek simplicity and robust productivity -- including email, Wi-Fi and GPS capabilities(1) -- that meets the needs of businesses and end users alike. Treo Pro, which will be available from Vodafone and O2 in Europe(2) and from Telstra in Australia, also will be available in an unlocked version in the United States, Europe and Asia Pacific."

"Businesses want the control and savings that Windows Mobile affords, in an innovative and elegant package that keeps their users happy. That's where Palm comes in," said Ed Colligan, president and chief executive officer, Palm, Inc. "Everything about Treo Pro -- from the hardware design to the packaging and accessories -- embodies the elegant and simplified end-to-end experience that our customers expect from Palm."

"I'm really happy with Treo Pro -- it's a technology leap from a device design and capability standpoint, enhancing Palm's presence in the Windows Mobile realm," said Wasif Malik, senior systems consultant, Student Educational Services & Mobile Solutions, Ohio State University Medical Center. "It's cleverly designed for Windows Mobile, with a large touch screen, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and all the productivity applications for Windows Mobile 6 in a much thinner design."

The Palm Treo Pro, in what I consider a surprise move, is being announced with out a launch wireless carrier partner and is being released in the coming days as an unlocked phone.

The specs page on the Palm website also confirmes the leaked information that has flooded the Internet over the past few days.

For full details, and the registration page to be notified when the Treo Pro begins shipping, visit the Palm website.

Palm Treo Pro Makes A Cameo Appearance

Yesterday pictures of what appears to be a new Windows Mobile Treo appeared briefly on the Palm website. WMExperts forum member "scottymomo" discovered the Treo Pro, which bears a striking resemblance to the rumored Treo 850, while visiting the Palm Self-Paced Learning site. References to the Treo Pro have already been removed from the site.

If the Treo Pro is in fact the rumored Treo 850/Drucker that was leaked back in January, I think that many people will be pleased with Palm's next Windows Mobile smartphone.

To see the three screen grabs, including the uncropped version of the above photo, visit the WMExperts discussion forums. (Registration required)

2008 Family Reunion Photos Online

So this year's family reunion has come and gone and we all had a totally awesome time!

I'm not sure how I ended up taking on the role of Official Photographer, since there was at least one retired professional photographer at the event, but I've taken the 80 some odd photos and built a digital photo album for your enjoyment.

I'm also hard at work on developing a DVD slide show that you can play on your home DVD player (no computer required) and select paper prints. The paper prints are going to take a while and I will get them out to you as soon as I can.

In the mean time, please do enjoy the new 2008 Family Reunion website that I am hosting over on the Grassia Network Solutions web server.

Cheers!
