TreoAlarm 0.99b Review
TreoAlarm by Software Trenches is a replacement alarm color and weather forecast application for designed for use with the palmOne Treo 600 and 650. One of the useful applications missing from the Treo 600 is an alarm clock application and TreoAlarm fills that need very nicely.
The main application screen is well organized and gives the user a wealth of information. The main objects on the screen are a digital read-out of the current time, when the next alarm is set to go off, and the weather forecast icon. Additional information available on the main screen are the city the weather report is for, current forecast details, and buttons to manually update the forecast and to set a new alarm.
TreoAlarm allows you to configure and set up to eight discrete alarms. Configuration options include alarm title, the days the alarm will be active, and the time the alarm should trigger. Additionally, you can configure TreoAlarm to active or deactivate the cellular radio, a handy feature if you only want the radio to be active during your work day. You are also given the option of choosing what happens when an alarm goes off. You can instruct TreoAlarm to update the weather forecast or synchronize the Treo’s clock with the time servers at the National Institute of Standards and Technology.
TreoAlarm also has a number of configuration options. Users of TreoAlarm can configure to get updates from US National Weather Service, the Canadian Weather Service, or Yahoo! Weather. Users can choose which city the forecast is for based on a Zip code, city and state, or NWS code. Once you download the latest weather forecasts for your location, TreoAlarm displays colorful and well drawn icons. (Software Trenches is in the process of redesigning the icons for high-resolution display of the Treo 650.)
TreoAlarm is in the final stages of software development. The current version of TreoAlarm is 0.99b, and is available for purchase as shareware. For a limited time, TreoAlarm can be purchased for $12.95, which is 30% off the regular list price of $18.50. For more information, or to purchase TreoAlarm, visit www.treoalarm.com.
